Witness

The Witness Ministry is an active, integral part of St. Paul. We work to live out our Mission Statement: to witness through Christ; to welcome everyone through the Holy Spirit; to worship with joy and to work with God to meet the needs of our community.

We work together with other St. Paul ministry teams for maximum benefit to our members and our community. We help coordinate our Community Day that is held at our Mission Property in the Spring where we invite all our Startown neighbors for free food, fun and faith.  We also promote our annual Trunk and Treat community outreach where we provide free soup, sandwiches, and of course lots of candy!

We have participated in the Lenoir-Rhyne University Spiritual Fair.

One special bi-annual event is our Prison Cookie Ministry which supports the Kairos Prison Ministry which shares God's word with those incarcerated in the Alexander County Federal Penitentiary.  This past Spring our members baked a record 191 dozen cookies; that's 2,292 cookies! This Fall's effort was a bit less, with 143 dozen but we are enthused to break that 200 dozen mark in Spring 2020!

We have also been active in the development of a robust recycling program at St. Paul and are diligently working to preserve this wonderful earth that God has created for us.

We are constantly looking for ways to help and support our community with special collections like "Toboggans to Toes", a collection of hats, socks, and gloves for those in need.  Our Lenten Food Drive benefits Newton's ECCM (Eastern Catawba County Christian Ministry) and ELCA Good Gifts program which purchases livestock, seed, tools, and education for those in need throughout the world.

Almost every week there is something special going on with the Witness Ministry - come visit St. Paul Startown and become part of our team to share God's love through word and deed.
